Inverallan

I first read about Inverallan on Notes by Naive, which are written by the lovely Tommy, who kindly let me use the photos she took of her sweaters (btw her "city guides through Lomo eyes" are fabulous). Inverallan offers hand knit Aran sweaters and cardigans in pure wool or cotton. "Each Aran garment takes a single knitter, working in his or her own home well over 90 hours and contains at least 25,000 stitches. Each Aran sweater is individual, made with enormous skill, and if treated with care will last a lifetime." Their scarves, mittens and berets make great holiday gifts.

Inverallan habe ich über das Blog Notes by Naive entdeckt, das von Tommy geschrieben wird, die mir netterweise diese Fotos, die sie von ihren Pullis gemacht hat, für diesen Post zur Verfügung gestellt hat (ihre mit der Lomo-Kamera illustrierten Stadtführer sind übrigens fabelhaft). Inverallan bietet handgestrickte Aran Pullover und Strickjacken aus Schur- oder Baumwolle an. In jedem Aran Kleidungsstück stecken 90 Stunden Arbeit und mindestens 25.000 Maschen. Jeder Pullover ist ein Unikat, das große Handfertigkeit erfordert und bei der richtigen Pflege ein Leben lang hält. Die Schals, Fäustlinge und Mützen sind tolle Weihnachtsgeschenke.

Izzy Lane

Izzy Lane offers handknit garments in wonderful colors "made with the lustrous, kemp-free fleece of the Wensleydale sheep, an endangered breed, numbering around 1800 in the world. Our dresses, skirts and jackets are made from the super-fine fleece of the rare and primitive Shetland sheep, used undyed in their beautiful natural colours. Our luxurious cashmere garments are made from the fibre of Scottish cashmere goats. [...] The annual production in Scotland is only 100 kilos each year."

Izzy Lane verkauft handgestrickte Kleidung in wunderbaren Farben aus der glänzenden, kratzfreien Wolle der Wensleydale Schafe, eine bedrohte Art von der es nur noch etwa 1800 auf der Welt gibt. Kostüme und Mäntel werden aus der superweichen Wolle der raren Shetland Schafe hergestellt, die ungefärbt mit ihren natürlichen Farbtönen verwendet wird. Die Faser von schottischen Kaschmirziegen (pro Jahr werden nur 100 Kilo dieser Faser in Schottland gewonnen) wird zu luxuriösen Pullovern weiterverarbeitet.

Summer Sale at Quail

Quail was launched by Shauna Chapman and Jason Clark in 2006 and is based in South Devon. Quail's classic tailored designs are made in England with organic fair trade handloomed fabrics like cotton and silk from India and handloomed (!) tweed from Scotland. They also use South African Shweshwe Cotton as well as Ghanaian and Indonesian batiks (look at their website to find out more about these).

I highly recommend to check out these wonderful clothes. They ship internationally.

Quail wurde 2006 von Shauna Chapman and Jason Clark in der Grafschaft South Devon gegründet. Die klassisch geschnittene Mode des Labels Quail wird in England produziert und verarbeitet fair gehandelte handgewebte Bio-Stoffe aus Baumwolle und Seide (aus Indien) sowie handgewebten (!) Tweed (aus Schottland). Außerdem werden traditionell hergestellte Sheshwe Baumwollstoffe aus Südafrika und Batikstoffe aus Ghana und Indonesien verwendet (mehr Informationen zu diesen Stoffen findet ihr auf der Webseite).
