I've been wanting to write a guide to the Fair Trade and Organic fashion shops in Berlin for months but never got around to doing it. Luckily Sonja of Frau Jona&Son did just that for green lifestyle site Gillout so if you can read German go check it out here. Cogama

Last Saturday I went to Cogama's factory outlet sale and bought a great pair of low cowboy boots. Cogama is a fresh shoe label that was founded in Berlin in early 2007 by three sisters: Conny, Gabi and Marlis. The fall/winter 08/09 range is their second collection. Manufactured in a small family business close to Rome, Italy the shoes combine gorgeous looks with great quality and fit. If you happen to be in Berlin next Saturday (28th of Februrary) you should definitely check out the heavily marked down selection of ballett flats, high heels and boots at Cogama's shop: Giesebrechtstr. 21 (close to S-Bahn Charlottenburg) open from 11am to 6pm. The new collection is sold at "Doppelleben", Oderbergerstr. 37, Berlin.

Letzten Samstag war ich beim Fabrikverkauf von Cogama und habe ein schönes Paar Cowboy-Booties erstanden. Cogama ist ein junges Schuhlabel, das Anfang 2007 von drei Schwestern gegründet wurde: Conny, Gabi and Marlis. Die Herbst/Winter 08/09 Kollektion ist ihre zweite. Die Leisten werden in Berlin hergestellt, die Schuhe in der Nähe von Rom in einem kleinen Familienbetrieb. Zusammen ergibt das großßartiges Aussehen mit sehr guter Verarbeitung und Passform. Wer nächsten Samstag (28. Feb.) in Berlin ist sollte den zweiten Fabrikverkauftermin von Ballerinas, High Heels und Stiefeln nicht verpassen: Giesebrechtstr. 21 (in der Nähe des S-Bahnhofs Charlottenburg) von 11 bis 18 Uhr. Die neuesten Modelle findet ihr im Schuhladen "Doppelleben" in der Oderbergerstr. 37, Berlin.

Made in Berlin: ic! Berlin

If you are looking not for vintage glasses but some of the freshest shades of the moment check out ic! berlin. Pictured is a nice little gadget they have on their website: "choose a head, take a pair of glasses and post it on the chosen face". ic! berlin sunglasses and prescription frames are made in Berlin using sheet metal making them very light-weight and flexible and they are completely screwless.

Wenn ihr keine Vintage-Brille wollt, sondern nach den allerneuesten Modellen sucht werdet ihr bei ic! berlin fündig. Abgebildet ist ein Teil der Webseite, auf dem ihr die Passform der Brillen ausprobieren könnt. ic! berlin (Sonnen-)Brillen werden in Berlin aus Metallblechen hergestellt. Sie sind superleicht, flexibel und kommen komplett ohne Schrauben aus.

Lunettes

Lunettes offers unworn vintage prescription glasses and shades from 1900 up until the eighties. Mary has recently bought a pair of glasses there and she was very happy with the service provided by shop owner Uta. Visit her shop in Berlin (Marienburger Straße 11) or buy online. She also rents out glasses for film, theater and photo shoots.

Durch Marys Post wurde ich an die Lunettes Brillenagentur erinnert: "Von Antikbrillen über Designklassiker bis zum trashigen Vintage-Accessoire bietet Ihnen Lunettes einen Querschnitt durch die Designgeschichte der Brille ab 1900. Die ungetragenen Originale stammen aus Lagerbeständen namhafter Hersteller aus aller Welt."

20% Christmas sale at potipoti

Potipoti was launched by Silvia Salvador and Nando Cornejo in 2005. Both of them are Fine Arts graduates from Spain and have been living and working in Berlin since 2001. "The label manufactures its fashion products in small and reliable textile companies from Castilla y Leon (Spain) and Portugal, and they can been found in selected stores around the world, in their own shop in Berlin (Oderbergerstr. 34) and online at www.potipoti.com". Right now they are having a 20% Christmas sale. Some of their old designs are on sale at styleserver.de

Potipoti wurde 2005 von Silvia Salvador und Nando Cornejo gegründet. Die beiden Spanier mit Abschlüssen in Bildender Kunst leben und arbeiten seit 2001 in Berlin. Potipoti lässt seine Produkte in kleinen Betrieben in Spanien und Portugal herstellen. In Berlin werden sie in der Oderbergerstr. 34 verkauft, online über potipoti.com zur Zeit 20% reduziert. Einige ältere Designs sind preisreduziert bei styleserver.de erhältlich.

Shop in Berlin: tausche Taschen

Tausche bags are the brainchild of Antje Woraschk und Heiko Braun who launched their first shop in Berlin in 2004. A unique feature of the tausche bags are their exchangeable bag flaps - simply zip on a new one. "tausche bags come in ten colours and eight sizes. Each bag is handmade from tearproof polyester fabric. Insets are made from the same material and come in bright orange or black. All tausche products are made in Germany." The sizes range from a small handbag to an x-large mammoth that can contain a laptop and a heavy ring binder. Just reading the description made me feel so happy that I never have to lug around that much.

Tausche taschen wurden von Antje Woraschk und Heiko Braun erfunden, die 2004 ihren ersten Laden in Berlin gründeten. Das besondere an den tausche Taschen ist die auswechselbare Front - neue Vorderseiten können einfach mit einem Reißverschluß befestigt werden. "Die tausche Taschenmodelle gibt es in zehn Farben und acht Größen; jede Tasche ist aus reißfestem Polyestergewebe von Hand gefertigt. Die Einsätze in knalligem Orange sind aus dem gleichen Material genäht. Taschen und Zubehör werden in Deutschland genäht und bedruckt." Die Größen rangieren zwischen der kleinen Handtasche bis zum XL-Monster für den Laptop und einen fetten Leitz-Ordner. Da bin ich doch sehr froh, dass ich nie so viel mit mir herumschleppen muss.

Made in Berlin: Aehrenkranz

Abgebildet sind Armbänder, Halsschmuck und eine Lederkappe der Designerin Annette Becker, die für ihr Label Aehrenkranz auch Hand- und Fußgelenkstaschen in Berlin herstellen lässt. Da ich mich mit letzteren Produkten allerdings noch nicht so richtig anfreunden konnte, müsst ihr euch bei Interesse die Bilder auf ihrer Webseite www.aehrenkranz.de anschauen. Was meint ihr: super oder seltsam?

Wristbands, leather chokers and a leather cap by designer Annette Becker. Her label Aehrenkranz also offers small bags that can be worn around the wrist or ankle. Made in Berlin: Trippen

German shoe manufacturer "Trippen" was launched in 1992 by Michael Oehler and Angela Spieth. Their vision: modern design combined with environmental friendliness, sustainability and social responsibility using the best materials. In 1995 the first flagshipstore opened in Berlin and today their shoes are sold in more than 450 shops worldwide from Beijing to Reykjavik. The shoes are made exclusively in Berlin and Northern Italy. "Trippen" shoes have won several product design awards.

The Trippen flagshipstore is located at Hackesche Höfe 4 & 6 in Berlin Mitte. For bargains check out their outlet store on Köpenicker Straße 187/188 in Berlin Kreuzberg.
