99 sweatshop-free fashion brands

Zur deutschen Version hier entlang.

Since I have started blogging in August 2008 I have found more than 90 brands and shops that offer sweatshop-free goods that I would like to share with you. Click on the names in capital letters to read more about these labels. I have indicated the location of the company and webshop at the end of the description like this (G = Germany, UK, US...). "No webshop" means that the company does not run its own webshop but products might be sold via other shops. A number of UK- and US-based online shops are selling fair trade fashion - find them here. My fair trade jeans special can be found here.

Scroll down to the end of this list to find out how I have made my choice.

Sometimes I have concluded that the working conditions were okay (e.g. people selling homemade fashion via Etsy / Dawanda). Nobody's perfect so if you have sth. to say about the brands (or my descriptions) please leave a comment.

Last Saturday I went to Cogama's factory outlet sale and bought a great pair of low cowboy boots. Cogama is a fresh shoe label that was founded in Berlin in early 2007 by three sisters: Conny, Gabi and Marlis. The fall/winter 08/09 range is their second collection. Manufactured in a small family business close to Rome, Italy the shoes combine gorgeous looks with great quality and fit. If you happen to be in Berlin next Saturday (28th of Februrary) you should definitely check out the heavily marked down selection of ballett flats, high heels and boots at Cogama's shop: Giesebrechtstr. 21 (close to S-Bahn Charlottenburg) open from 11am to 6pm. The new collection is sold at "Doppelleben", Oderbergerstr. 37, Berlin.

37, Berlin.

Lunettes offers unworn vintage prescription glasses and shades from 1900 up until the eighties. Mary has recently bought a pair of glasses there and she was very happy with the service provided by shop owner Uta. Visit her shop in Berlin (Marienburger Straße 11) or buy online. She also rents out glasses for film, theater and photo shoots.

Lauren of Fops & Dandies @ Dreamecho

Some of you may know the blog Fops & Dandies written by Lauren that is unfortunately offline now (above some of my favourite outfits). It was one of the blogs I read regularly so I was very happy to see her make a short comeback on Dreamecho's blog - thank you Lauren and Kristina! Read her guest post here.
