Tausche bags are the brainchild of Antje Woraschk und Heiko Braun who launched their first shop in Berlin in 2004. A unique feature of the tausche bags are their exchangeable bag flaps - simply zip on a new one. "tausche bags come in ten colours and eight sizes. Each bag is handmade from tearproof polyester fabric. Insets are made from the same material and come in bright orange or black. All tausche products are made in Germany." The sizes range from a small handbag to an x-large mammoth that can contain a laptop and a heavy ring binder. Just reading the description made me feel so happy that I never have to lug around that much.
So I was going to post on Yokoo's knits but Susie Bubble was quicker. To find out more about this Etsy seller read Susie's post or take a look at her creations on Etsy.
While I do recommend AA (esp. their organic cotton line) I would also like to point out that there are a number of alternatives if you are looking for colorful basics. No Terry Richardson inspired soft porn though - I'll let you decide whether that's a plus or not. Everything pictured was made with fair trade organic cotton.

A Peace Treaty was launched by Farah Malik, a Pakistani Muslim, and Dana Arbib, a Libyian Jew. Their aim is to create "employment for skilled artisans working in places of socio-political strife, effectively supporting their craft while elevating their products to the level of high design for an exlusive, international audience." (quoted from www.apeacetreaty.com)
Izzy Lane offers handknit garments in wonderful colors "made with the lustrous, kemp-free fleece of the Wensleydale sheep, an endangered breed, numbering around 1800 in the world. Our dresses, skirts and jackets are made from the super-fine fleece of the rare and primitive Shetland sheep, used undyed in their beautiful natural colours. Our luxurious cashmere garments are made from the fibre of Scottish cashmere goats. [...] The annual production in Scotland is only 100 kilos each year."
I wish I could visit Finland and meet Piksi, Irene Adler and go to the Midnight Sun Film Festival. So much wonderfulness originates from Finland: Kaurismäki, Moomins, Aalto, Finnish Tango, Marimekko, Nanso: "Nanso, since its beginnings as a dyehouse [in 1921], has gradually grown over the decades to achieve its current status as the second largest company in the Finnish clothing industry. Nanso products are the creations of local designers, produced with respect for nature and human dignity. [...] Nanso [...] makes all its products locally - from thread, to fabric, and all the way to the final product - at its plant in the town of Nokia in Finland. [...] Last year, Nanso introduced a collection made from Fairtrade Cotton, the first of its kind in the Nordic countries. [...] The Fairtrade Cotton used in this collection, which is manufactured in Finland, comes from Cameroon in Western Africa. The cotton is spun into thread in Turkey. [...] "Our objective in the long term is to use Fairtrade Cotton in the production of all our clothes," says Pertti Lahervuori, CEO of the Nanso Group." (quoted from www.nansogroup.com)
You might have seen Paraphernalia's charming jewelry on various fashion blogs. Pictured here are Piksi and Agathe wearing Ms. Vanda's handmade necklaces. To find out more about Paraphernalia check out Agent Lover's interview with Ms. Vanda: "I live in the UK now, and I think I’m more Portuguese than ever! Both my parents were scientists when I was growing up - my Mother is still a Biologist, and my Father the captain of a research ship. I grew up surrounded by scientific and astronomic charts and maps, and I can definitely see that coming out in the work I do!"
